VANCOUVER — The notoriety of a group of bears who were watching over a marijuana grow operation in B.C.'s Interior has now hit the Internet.

The province's environment minister is concerned that the Internet video of the man seen feeding the bears will set a very bad example.

Barry Penner says the most disturbing thing for him in the video is that people could get the impression it's OK to feed wildlife.

Penner says fed animals are often destroyed after they get used to people, because it leads to confrontations with humans.

With a raccoon sitting on his shoulder, Allen Piche introduces himself on the video as the guy at Christina Lake, B.C., who's been feeding the bears.

Instead of destroying the group of about two dozen bears, the B.C. Environment Ministry has arranged with Piche to continue feeding the bears until they hibernate, in the hopes they'll forage on their own next spring.
