KAMLOOPS, B.C. — A report that two female prisoners had sex in an RCMP cell while jail staff watched via a video camera has people talking in this Interior B.C. city, including the mayor, who says the public will eventually be told what really happened.

Mayor Peter Milobar is asking people to be patient and not pass judgment on those involved until all the details are known.

Milobar said he's unable to confirm reports that two women, one of whom might be HIV positive, were placed in the same cell Aug. 18 and began having sex.

It's been reported that RCMP and civilian jail staff watched the encounter on a video monitor for several minutes and did nothing to stop it.

Milobar said it would be wrong to speculate on bits and pieces of information before everyone involved knows what happened. "I would prefer to make sure we have that complete package (of information) for the fairness of everybody involved and make sure the full investigation has run its course," he said.

The RCMP have said four Mounties are being investigated in relation to the incident, but no official details have been released about exactly what happened.

Three Kamloops city employees are also said to have been involved.

City staff take care of administrative and clerical duties at the Kamloops detachment.

How many personnel are hired to supervise the video cameras? Four RCMP Officers and Three city workers? Why were 7 people watching two women have sex in a jail cell? Could it be that once the "show" began one told a friend, who called a friend, who called a friend and before you know it, there are 7 "friends" observing the action? Can you imagine paying FOUR federal RCMP officers to watch two women have sex...and then THREE city employees, who the taxpayers of kamloops pay for...join in. Nothing short of looking into someone's bedroom and watching them...I believe that is illegal. The only one who should have even been privvy to this is the one person who has to monitor the prisioners. The remainer are criminals. But, just like the comments of the men on here, they were most likely cheered and jeered...how much fun they had while watching. Just short of being able to pass around the beer and pizza....

That is voyeurism and peeping toms. As I notice most of the comments before me are of men, who sound like they are cheering them on....I wonder how much cheering was happening while the 7 watched? To think 4 Federal and 3 city employees were paid to watch live porn....oh watch out, here comes a little tap on the wrist for being bad and a big slap on the butt for being one of the guys....

Yeah, while one portion of this story is *facepalm* worthy and the other portion is kinda gross, is anything that happened here explicitly illegal? I mean, it's not like the staff should have turned the cameras off; prisoners need to be kept under surveillance. And those two MUST have known that people watching was a very likely possibility.

I don't believe the issue is the women having sex in jail but that if they knew there was a camera and they could be seen and also that the employees and officers were watching instead of maybe covering the screen. However the story almost makes it sound like they were handing out popcorn and settling down for a movie.

This is so funny.Would someone please explain the crime/harm here?Is it that two women were having sex?Or is it that they were doing it in a jail cell (as if thousands of sexual encounters aren't happening daily in jail cells all over the world?Or perhaps that there were voyeurs enjoying it too?Or perhaps that... oh, hell, forget it.In our society just two people having sex is reason enough in some people's minds to strike a Royal Commission!I wonder how much (easily obtained) public funds will now be spent on the "full investigation" and subsequent deliberations... all over NO BIG DEAL?Gawd, will we EVER grow up?

Is it wrong to have sex while in jail? I didn't know that. They get to vote I figured consensual sex was ok as well.

So what else is new ~ SEX in prison isn't new, or even news !They are incarcerated, they do have some rights, (although to many for my likjing), so let them be.They have consented to act out their emotions & if its a cell so be it.Isn't the cell their residence at this specific time ?Well, let consenting people do what they like in the area of "Personal Recreation" in "THEIR RESIDENCE.Lets get some real news, and leave "Love making to the Lovers".

Yea, I could see it now. One guy telling 6 other guys...Hey, I think it would be reasonable for us to put a stop to these consenting girls from having sex before our very own eyes. It's just not right, it's...disgusting!By the way, someone tell Jessica Alba to put her top back on for God sakes!:)

It is about time - as a grandparent I have watched our kids (who were allowed to fail although I do remember some nagging on our part) learn, I have watched our children now micro-manage their children. A big part of it is the fact that there are predators out there and an extreme reluctance on the parents part to alllow freedom that might result in the children becoming victims.
