There were some tense moments at Toronto's Pearson International Airport when an Air Canada Jazz aircraft encountered tire problems while landing Sunday night.

"The information I have is that there was a problem with a tire," Trish Kale, spokeswoman from the Greater Toronto Airport Authority, told CTV.ca Sunday evening.

She added that the landing occurred around 9 p.m. and that "emergency crews met the plane as a standard precaution."

However, "it has landed and everything's fine," said Kale.

She added that emergency crews were "stood down," meaning that there were no apparent serious injuries.

Manon Stuart, a spokesperson for Jazz Air, told CTV.ca that a tire did not come off the plane as was originally thought.

Upon landing in Toronto, the outer tread layer came off of one the six tires on the plane.

"The tire was changed and the aircraft was placed back into service this morning," he said in an email.

The plane, which was travelling home from Kansas City, was carrying 34 passengers and three crew members onboard.

According to Peel Police Airport Division Const. Alec Watson, there were no injuries and very little damage to the aircraft.
