Statement from General Motors Canada

General Motors of Canada has a comprehensive program for servicing customers both within and beyond the vehicle warranty period. All General Motors vehicles are covered by a minimum 3 year, 60,000 km manufacturer's warranty, some have more standard coverage.
Beyond that, customers have the option to purchase General Motors Protection Plan (GMPP) extended warranty, as some customers do for various reasons. GMPP Extended Warranty is available on both new and used GM vehicles.
Beyond these warranty options, our dealers and retailers review out of warranty concerns on a case-by-case basis.
If the customer is not satisfied with the dealer's decision, there is a process detailed in the owner assistance information booklet to help customers resolve concerns they may have.
An intake manifold gasket concern can arise from a variety of causes. It is for this reason that any concern a customer may have beyond the warranty period is handled on a case-by-case basis.
We encourage any of our customers to contact our Customer Communications Centre at 1-800-263-3777 if they have questions regarding their vehicle or service needs.
GM does not plan to issue any type of goodwill action regarding the intake manifold gasket situation. We will handle customer's concerns beyond the warranty period on a case by case basis.
This statement can be attributed to Stew Low, director of communications, GM of Canada.
