Police and volunteers continue to search Tuesday in Ottawa's southwest Barrhaven community for a teenager who vanished without a trace last week.
Ottawa police received two separate reports from witnesses who say they heard sounds in an area where 18-year-old Jennifer Teague would have walked after finishing her late-night shift at Wendy's.
Police Staff Sgt. Monique Ackland said at a press conference Tuesday she couldn't confirm the exact nature of the sounds.
But Barrhaven resident Lise Martens told reporters earlier that she was woken by the sound of a woman's screams.
"It appears that the two reports that were made came from generally the same area," said Ackland.
"It was hard to pinpoint the exact time," she added. "It was at the time approximately that Jennifer disappeared."
Martens' home backs onto Jockvale Road, near where Ottawa police have set up their command post.
Police and volunteers, meanwhile, continue a detailed ground search that's been underway since Saturday in the quiet suburban community in Ottawa's southwest.
Early Tuesday morning, an RCMP helicopter from Montreal equipped with an infra-red camera joined the search.
Ottawa police have set up an email address for anyone with information about Teague: infojennifer@ottawapolice.ca
Teague has been missing since early morning Thursday after finishing her shift at a Wendy's restaurant. Her friends last saw her at about 1:30 a.m. ET before she began her walk alone to her mother's house.
"We're heartbroken" said Ed Teague, who last spoke with his daughter Wednesday afternoon after she had returned from school. "We don't know where she is and someone does."
He's clinging to the hope that the 40 strangers helping authorities scour the area will find clues as to the disappearance of Jennifer.
He said on CTV's Canada AM Tuesday that his daughter sometimes gets a ride home with a friend after work, but that she usually walks home alone along the same route.
Police suspect foul play and have launched a massive search for the girl, bringing in reinforcements from the Ontario Provincial Police and RCMP.
Suspicions were raised when Jennifer failed to show up for a crucial soccer match on Saturday morning. Neither her cell phone nor bank card has been used since she disappeared.
As the search expands, Ed Teague said he hasn't lost hope.
"I believe there's a contingent of 28 or more RCMP officers who have now joined the search. So we're just keeping the hope up and they're continuing to send out the search teams and they searched all night long."
He said he also finds strength through prayer and support from friends.
"I pray every day and I pray every night. I have friends that show up here and we pray together," he told Canada AM.
"And we have thousands and thousands and thousands of people praying all over the country for Jennifer's safe return."

This short piece illustrates perfectly the problem with the adversarial legal system, where the idea of actual guilt is irrelevant to all participants in the pantomime. I support the vigorous defence of a person's rights, but also grasp why lawyers come across slimy. It's hard to look crystal clear and clean when you provide your services on a foundation of one set of acceptable lies against another.
