A Mississauga day-care centre owner's son who is facing child pornography charges has been released on bail, according to court documents obtained by CTV News Toronto.
The accused lives with his mother, who has been running a day-care centre from the home for 15 years, Peel region police said Thursday.
"He has also been ordered to stay away from that home in Mississauga and not to associate with any parents or children who attended that day care," CTV News Toronto's John Musselman reported.
Meanwhile, police are asking parents of children who attended the Mommy Gills Day Care centre to contact them. There is no word on whether the children attending the centre were involved in any way.
Toronto and Peel region police say they found graphic images on a computer and other related media that they seized Feb. 23 in a joint investigation. The images showed very young children engaged in sexual acts, with adults, police said.
Investigators said they did not believe that the day-care provider or other family members of the accused were aware of the activity.
Under Ontario's Minister of Children and Youth Services Day Nurseries Act, any day-care centre with more than five children who are under the age of 10 must be licensed.
The Mommy Gills Day Care centre was not licensed, Minister of Children and Youth Services spokesperson Anne Machowski told CTV.ca.
It is unclear if the day-care centre required licensing or tended to more than five children.
The accused did not work in the day care, but held a position at Mothers Against Drunk Driving's office in Mississauga.
MADD Canada CEO Andrew Murie confirmed that the accused had been working at the national office as a School Outreach Program Manager.
"All I can tell you is that he's been terminated and we feel very comfortable that there's no connection between his employment and these charges," Murie told CTV.ca on Thursday.
"He was involved in the production of some of our youth materials but he had no contact with youth at all, it was all in the office type of occupation," Murie said.
He would not comment on how long the man worked for MADD Canada.
Russell Bray, 24, is charged with distribution, possession, and accessing child pornography.
