Uncork the Chianti â| Hannibal is back
Date: Thu. Feb. 8 2001 7:23 AM ET
eNow's Dan Duran looks at new films opening this weekend, starting with a taste of latest Hannibal movie from Sir Anthony Hopkins.
Hannibal is set in Florence, Italy, a decade after the events of Silence of the Lambs. In the first movie, psychopath Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) was interviewed by FBI agent Clarice Starling (originally played by Jodie Foster) while in the custody of a maximum-security prison.
The sequel picks up where that film left off. The deranged Lecter is free as a bird in Italy, and Starling â now played by Julianna Moore â still on his trail.
The film takes viewers on a sickening journey through Lecter's violent, cannibalistic mind.
Hopkins remains unimpressed with his performance in Hannibal, and with acting in general.
You see, actors ... I think they make a big deal of it,
Hopkins told Barbara Walters last week. And we talk about it. And, you know, watch the 'Actors Studio' every night. I have done that, as well. But I know that, uh, actors make a big deal about this acting game. And there is nothing to it.
He says it's not brain surgery â although those who catch Hannibal's ending might disagree.
