Date: Thu. Sep. 21 2000 8:09 PM ET
Police in Kelowna, B.C. have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a man suspected of sending two letter-bombs to mailboxes in the city.
Local authorities however fear that 57-year-old Andrija Tramsek, who also goes by Andy Davis, may have fled to the United States.
Police say Tramsek may be travelling with a female companion in a 1999 white Dodge 4X4 truck with B.C. licence plates.
Authorities call Tramsek a high-risk suspect and they say he is known to them.
The first mail bomb was delivered to Kelowna's regional health unit last Friday. It was detonated without incident.
RCMP say they do not believe the first mail bomb was intended for the health unit, and may have been used to lead police astray. There was fear the bomb was related to the opening of a new abortion clinic at Kelowna General Hospital.
The second mail bomb went off in a vehicle belonging to a couple in the Kelowna area. The two had just returned from picking up a package at a local mailbox. They were slightly injured in the blast.
Police focused their attention on a single suspect shortly after the second blast, following tips from the public.
