The 'Arrow' points to Colton Haynes as the archer’s crime-fighting sidekick in 2013
After taking a severe beating in the mid-season finale, it looks like Stephen Amell will finally be asking for help in his war against crime.
His new sidekick? Actor Colton Haynes, formally of the teenage drama “Teen Wolf.”
In a recent article from TVguide.com, Haynes was announced as joining the show in the role of “Roy Harper.” Fans of the comics will recognize the name as Green Arrow’s long-time sidekick ‘Speedy’ before moving on to become his own independent superhero.
The article states the character is a poor but “street-savvy” person who will play an “important player in the larger world of “Arrow." The show is definitely being sly about naming Haynes officially as a crime-fighting sidekick, but all the character traits seem to point in that direction.
Another surprise in the announcement is that Haynes will also be a love interest for Thea Queen!
The titular character’s kid sister (played by Willa Holland) has long been rumoured to be in the running for being Amell’s future sidekick after she was referenced as ‘Speedy’ multiple times on the show (plus, in the comics, Green Arrow eventually gains a female sidekick also named Speedy).
However, with the addition of Haynes, the series is definitely keeping fans on their toes as to who or what will go down in Starling City when the show returns in 2013.
