Ryan Gosling behind the camera? It may happen sooner than you think.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Gosling is aiming to shop "How to Catch a Monster," a film which he penned and will direct, at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival.

The film would mark the directorial and writing debut for the Ontario-born actor, who has found an abundance of success in recent years with well-received films like "Ideas of March," "Drive" and "Crazy, Stupid, Love."
