Nigel Barker, Jay Manuel and Miss J not returning to 'ANTM'
Much like the models they judge each week, Nigel Barker, Jay Manuel and J Alexander have to pack their bags and go home: they are no longer a part of “America’s Next Top Model.”
According to reports from The New York Post, Barker, a fashion photographer and “Top Model” judge, Canada’s own Manuel, the show’s creative director, and runway coach Miss J did not have their contracts renewed as the show heads into Cycle 19.
Host and executive producer Tyra Banks confirmed the news via Twitter:
“Fierce & love 2 my @NigelBarker, @MrJayManuel & Miss J. #ANTM turned us in2 a family. Excited for what the future holds for us. XOXO TyTy”
Barker addressed his exit in a blog post on his website.
“Many of you have come to know me over the past eight years on the show, during which we have shared numerous amazing adventures . . . I will miss the cast, the crew and ANTM will always have a special place in my heart, having made life-long friendships with countless fond memories,” he wrote.
“This change will allow me to take on new projects and turn my attention to other business prospects in the worlds of fashion, beauty and entertainment.”
Manuel, who grew up in Toronto, also made a comment on his blog.
"Nigel, Miss J and I had a great run, and now it's time for us to move on," wrote Manuel, a former makeup artist.
"But you know me ... I'm already working on many interesting projects. I look forward to sharing with you soon!"
As well as his position on "ANTM," Manuel is creative director of Sears Canada's private label collection, Attitude Jay Manuel, and has hosted his own show, "Style Her Famous." He also hosted two seasons of "Canada's Next Top Model," has his own makeup line, and is a frequent fashion critic for "E!" channel.
Cycle 18 of “ANTM,” dubbed “British Invasion,” is currently on the air. Watch it first in Canada at CTV.ca.
