Randy Jackson out as "Idol" judge?

Has the "Dawg Pound" had its final bark on "Idol?"

According to a report by TMZ, the long-awaited decision regarding Randy Jackson’s fate has been made – he will not be returning as a judge on "American Idol."

After working on the show’s panel for 11 seasons, the OD (Original Dawg) and music producer will shift to a role behind the camera, working as a mentor for the show’s contestants.

The report comes on the heels of rumours that Nigel Lythgoe is returning as the show’s executive producer.

In other "Idol" news, Season 11 runner-up Jessica Sanchez debuted her new single "Fairytale." You can listen to the song here.

Simon Cowell saves nine people at sea

The music mogul and “X Factor” creator, who few would ever consider a hero due to his cold-blooded, on-air persona, may have vital signs after all.

Cowell was vacationing in Saint-Tropez (off the coast of France) when a nearby boat entered a state of distress. A friend of Cowell’s spoke with E! News immediately following the incident.

"A boat nearby to where Simon was in the Mediterranean put out a mayday call late yesterday afternoon, so Simon and the other boats in the area sent their tenders (smaller boats) over to help them. It was all OK,” he said.

Cowell’s signature v-necks were not harmed.

"The X Factor" premieres on Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. ET on CTV.

"Lost" star to appear on "Once Upon a Time"

"Once Upon a Time" is about to get a whole lot bigger.

Jorge Garcia, who played Hurley on "Lost," will assume the role of the Giant in "Once Upon a Time."

His appearance on the show will be a reunion of sorts, as creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis were both producers on "Lost."

"Thrilled to have @jorgegarcia joining us for some #OnceUponATime -- oh how we've missed writing for you, Jorge!" tweeted Horowitz.

"Once Upon a Time" premieres on Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. ET on CTV
