Is Mariah Carey angry about the Nicki Minaj ‘Idol’ rumours?

According to a TMZ report, the newly-signed Carey is not thrilled whatsoever about the prospect of having Minaj join her on the "American Idol" judging panel.

In the report, a source discloses that Carey was led to believe she would be the lone female judge on the hit show, and is angry about the idea of a younger female star stealing her spotlight.

In other "Idol" news, Kanye West is the latest name being thrown into the fire, with TMZ reporting that he is "on the fence" about whether to accept a significant role on the show.

If West were to join the panel, it is believed his deal would either match or exceed Mariah Carey's $18 million contract.

Kelly Ripa is Silver Fox dreaming

Kelly Ripa will be announcing her new co-host on "Live! With Kelly" Sept. 4, prompting rumours to surface as to who might be chosen for the coveted seat once filled by the iconic Regis Philbin. Among the favourites being thrown around are Seth Myers, Michael Strahan and Josh Groban, all of whom have taken on temporary co-hosting stints with Ripa in the post-Regis era.

In an interview with Us Weekly, Ripa said that having Anderson Cooper by her side would be a dream scenario.

"We have a connection like nobody else… I worship him," she said.

While the identity of the new co-host remains a mystery, the names of the season’s first guests are not. Ripa and her still-unknown partner will sit down with actress Claire Danes and "American Idol" winner Phillip Phillips.
