Video FAQs

What programs are available to watch online?

CTV GO has a wide-range of content from Canada’s most-watched television network CTV, as well as CTV Two. Included in the hundreds of hours of live and on-demand programming are top-rated and highly anticipated must-watch series such as THE AMAZING RACE, THE BIG BANG THEORY, MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. and many, many more.

When do full episodes become available for viewing?

The timeframe varies from program to program and channel to channel, but most content will appear online twenty four hours after it airs. Check the Latest /Most Recent Collection of Videos for the latest available clips and episodes. New content is added often, so make sure you keep checking back for new clips and exclusive content!

Can I share clips from the CTV GO with my friends or embed the clips in my blog or social networks?

We currently provide shareable links back to CTV GO where your friends or followers can watch CTV GO content. Our player does not support embedded clips at this time but it is a feature we are working hard to deliver. If you are a journalist or blogger covering the programming, please visit BellMediaPR.ca and/or contact the Communications department.

Why can't I view some of my favourite programs online?

Due to broadcast agreements, we do not own the rights to all shows we broadcast on television to stream on the Internet. Also, the length of time we can make the episodes available for streaming can vary, so your favourite show might only be available for a limited amount of time.

How do you stream your video content?

CTV GO delivers content via Adaptive Streaming. This means that the stream is constantly adjusting to deliver the best quality playback based on your available bandwidth. We currently deliver content at bitrates between 400 and 2048kbps.

Are videos available in closed captioning?

Closed captioning and described video are currently not available. However, we are working to deliver these features in the near future. This is a priority for us and we appreciate your patience while we work to add support for these features.

Can I set parental controls?

Parental Controls are currently not available. However, we are working to deliver this feature in the near future. In the meantime, we encourage you to consult the CTV online listing where we provide a rating for each program.

How fast does my Internet Connection have to be to use CTV GO?

For a quality viewing experience, we recommend an average connection of 2mbps or higher, however we deliver our content using adaptive bit rate which should optimize based on whatever connection speed you have. Lower connection speeds may experience some video-quality and performance lag.

I'm trying to view a video but it says that the content is no longer available. Why?

Due to licensing agreements with our content providers, some content is only available on certain platforms or for a certain period of time before expiration.

I am trying to view a video, why does it say there was an error loading the content. Why?

Please select the content again to start playback. If the error persists it is possible we are currently experiencing technical difficulties and are working to resolve the issue.

Why is the video stuttering/pausing/starting/stopping when I play it back?

The most common cause for stuttering in video playback is Internet congestion. There is a limit to the amount of information able to pass through your Internet connection, and if the maximum capacity has been hit, the player will attempt to buffer. If this problem persists, try stopping or pausing the video and then resuming playback. It is also possible that you are running other applications on your computer that is interrupting the video playback. If you have other programs running try shutting some of them down.

Does CTV GO support Chromecast?

CTV GO supports Chromecast.

What content is available to cast?

All video on demand content is available to cast. At this time live streams are not available for casting.

How do I cast?

I am having trouble casting from my device. What should I do?

When I try to cast a program, the video keeps skipping, stopping, or giving me an error message. Why is this happening?

We do our best to test all videos for casting in CTV GO before it is released into production so the most common cause of skipping in video may be related to your Internet connection. However, if you have casted multiple videos and only experienced problems with one, please contact ctvgo@bellmedia.ca. If you get an error message, please report it to us, providing as much information as possible so that we can resolve the problem.
